    • [Technical] End of Support for 32-bit Windows Versions

UPDATE: The 32-Bit Windows support has been discontinued with the Nimue content update on November 21st 2018.

      Hello everyone,

Albion Online is planning to discontinue the support of 32-bit Windows versions later this year.

32-bit Windows versions allow for a maximum of 2.7GB of RAM to be used. This has already led to technical issues, like crashes because of insufficient available RAM, in the past. With the growing complexity of Albion, this will become a bigger issue in the future.
As 32-bit Windows versions have phased out of the market for quite a while now, only a small fraction of our total userbase will be affected by this change. Anyone who has more than 4GB RAM in their PC will likely be running a 64-bit version of the Operating system anyways - everyone else should upgrade their OS to a 64-bit version.

      FAQ

Why are you discontinuing support for 32-bit Windows?
32-bit OS are limiting in terms of RAM. Ceasing to support these versions will allow for more complex technical constructs.

When will support for 32-bit Windows end?
We are planning to discontinue support for the 32-bit versions with the next big update, i.e. at the end of this year.

How do I find out what type of system I have?
Press Windows + Break Key (or go to Windows Control Panel --> System). Under "System", it should say "System type" and either 32-bit OS or 64-bit OS.

How does this affect me if I already have a 64-bit Windows version?
This change will not affect you at all.

What should I do if I still have a 32-bit version of Windows?
Upgrade to a 64-bit version of your operating system.

well it's a compromise for improving the game. windows 8/8.1/10 are guaranteed 64-bit, i think most modern versions of linux have 64-bit, and you're not poor if you have a macbook. considering most people who can't afford a good computer would probably just play a game $15 and under, it's safe to say that like talion said, only a small fraction of the players will get cut off.
    • I don't really understand why this would hurt anyone.

It's just official news, that the game does not support 32 bit versions and any crashes report will not be analyzed.

It doesn't mean the game won't run on 32 bit. They will just simply not test it and not waste resources to fix issues on this platform.
Anyway, if someone is running 32bit os with 4gb ram or more he's just fool. I doubt there are people with 3gb ram, more likely with 2gb.

IMO 4/8gb is the minimum a gamer should have these days, so maybe consider upgrade if this news hits you.

Well I tested it since the computer i played this on had 32bit windows, yes the game crashed in large battles and zoning in sometimes. After the patch the game just closes after the press the play button. So ive now got 64 bit. But also just bought upgraded pieces for the computer.
