      Yeah in GvG/HG's I know it is not the used option, but I still see it in use a lot for open world/solo play. I believe that's what thee boys were talking about given the conversation. Out of interest, what passive do you use typically in GvG's @Tazzik

      Thank you for this change. Demonic is the primary PvP oriented Warlock staff and it is a pain to level because groups don't want you bringing a weapon that does such poor AE damage. This change will really make a difference for leveling. I hope you guys consider doing the same thing for Dark Matter because of how few Warlock abilities actually stack in a group, having 2 is a waste of time. Changing Dark Matter to do good PvE damage will give a second Warlock something to use other than a second Armor Piercer that is only ever needed on bosses.

      Still hoping for a Desecrate change this patch cycle too!

      The problem was that Demonic is by and large the go to PvP staff in nearly all scenarios (GvG, ZvZ, small group, large group, dungeon diving. Everything but 1v1 and 2v2 for the most part) and was the worst staff option in PvE so it was a pain to justify bringing it to a group to spec it up.

      But you're right, we still need changes to desecrate and several E skills to make them more attractive in PvP.

      • Area of Decay (Great Cursed Staff)
        • Radius: 4m -> 5m
        • Cooldown: 30s -> 25s
        • Tick interval: every 1s -> every 0.8s
      • Field of Death (Demonic Staff)
        • Damage vs Mobs: 11.40 -> 25.53

    • I like the Dark Matter and Great Cursed changes from a PVE perspective. Right now so few Warlock abilities stack that having multiple Warlock staffs in a group is often detrimental. These changes will give Warlocks a strong W skill to use other than Armor Piercer in PvE. I would like to see Great Cursed dropped further (20s) so it could be used more consistently in dungeons. I doubt we'll see people using this staff in PvP with this change.

      Desecrate I'm less happy with. Roots in general just aren't a strong CC and the root duration is already incredibly low that this being a ranged AE root really isn't going to change anything. Think about making it a stun or attaching damage which would effectively make it 'ray of light' instead. Or put a root on cursed beam and make desecrate something different.

      Nothing really that exciting here.

      Desecrate looks like a shitty version of ray of light. I wish they gave it the frost nova treatment instead!

      Dark matter still feels weak compared to armor piercer.

      Area of Decay seems like a decent buff, but probably still needs lower CD. For PvP purposes, the fact that it's still such a long channel makes it hard to use.

      I'm happy I can finally FF efficiently with a demonic staff at least. But I think it needs it's damage vs. players buffed as well.

      Still seems like a worse version of Ray of Light or Frost Nova.

      The base changes to Vile Curse range and duration have been good, but we still need reworks/buffs on a lot of spells:

      Cataclysm - damage is still too low after all the nerfs, maybe have it apply a vile curse or some other effect
      Field of Death could use a similar buff to damage against players
      Death curse is so easily countered, at least make it so that cleanse doesn't remove it.
      Desecrate would get more play if it had a blink component like frost nova
      Cursed beam of course is still garbage.

    • It has been echoed many times in this thread already but I feel it important to keep mentioning until we here some dev feedback. Death curse needs to be uncleansable. People already have a full 3 seconds to react to it with a giant glowing skull animation to make it obvious they currently have bomb on them. Cleanse it made for removing CC not damage. Bomb can still be negated by various other means such as dodge roll, soldier helm, cleric robe, and protective shield bubble spells. Making it also cleansable is almost laughable.

      Damage: Applies vile curse, 260 damage total over 5s vs 483 instant
      Range: 13m vs 15m
      Cooldown: 15s vs 10s
      Root duration (before CC resist): ~4.2s vs 3s

      Less damage, less range, longer cooldown, slightly longer root duration.

      Most of the E skills need buffs or tweaking, as outlined in many of the posts in this thread.
