CORE Cursed Mage problems [vote up for curse suggestions]

      Vile Curse
      • The first DoT Tick now happens after 2s. (this increases the total duration by 2s)
      The damage takes too long to ramp up as it is. In PvE especially, mobs are often dead long before you can fully stack a curse let alone have it deal its full duration in damage. This would be easier to swallow if Vile Curse didn't need to stack up to 4 before reaching max damage.

      Funny thing is, when I picked up Curse two weeks ago because I wanted to try out something new, a few guildmates made fun of me (in a good natured manner). I always told them that I'm sure Curse gets buffed and I get the last laugh…. well, I guess the joke's on me, now.

      Its a direct nerf to curse q for 3 reasons.

      1. As of now you can get 2 ticks from q when stacking right after tick like: 1stQ(tick)....1s....2s(tick)..2ndQ(tick)....1s....2s(tick)...3rdQ(tick)
      after changes each q you press will not only do no dmg but it will also delay next tick by 2 sec.
      2. Lets say you have 25% cdr - q each 1.5 sec. You stack up q's on someone aaaand nothing. As long as you apply them there will be no dmg as you reapply your q's before it ticks.
      3. Thers a guy runing with 40 hp. As it is you press q he dies. After changes you are just better of auto attacking 2-3 times than waiting 2s before q ticks.

      It just shows how much devs think about balance changes.

      that said Total duration is increased by 2s so only the 1st Q is delayed
      otherwise its a bad idea
    • Might as well remove my Q key from my keyboard. This is very similiar to the change that made grudge a worthless spell. It was admittedly broken, but only when comboed with a hunter jacket hasted glaive. Really the nerf should have been to just make it a self buff only.

      If this change goes through on vile curse I may as well remove the Q key from my keyboard because the spell is beyond useless. If I have someone 4 stacked, after being out of position for 8 seconds due to the retardedly short 8m range, instead of doing nice DPS from continuing to drop VC on a short cooldown, it just resets the timer and I do no damage.
      @Retroman please reconsider this change!!!

    • I agree with OP.

      I'm playing with cursed and it was 400/400 yesterday i decreased to 385/400 (decreased 15 spec from artifact) for playing another class.

      The low range,easy to avoid E skill makes me cancer.It's good for HCE's but for pvp its useless.Also huge nerf on damnation is another problem.

      Demonic staff is good but not enough for gvg's.Great Cursed e is just lol.1h cursed E is easy to avoid.Lifecurse is usefull for only pve.

      I did scrims yesterday with peopel who i know.It was my first time with crossbow.I enjoyed cause i feel usefull first time in scrim.

      So yeah Curse have to get some buffs for being usefull at least like fire-xbow-frost...

      Yesterday i was playing 1h xbow and Facebreaker.W is target lock pierce,easy to cast,easy to apply,low cd.
      Q is hitting better than curse Q.E is burning target and insta apply.Also nice range.

      I will keep my Specs on curse,cause i really think developers will do something about this issue.If they dont,people will beg for curse only for HCE's.Or other option is give us a chance to respec without silver.13m silver for respec for only artifact is absolutely bs.

      I am already reiterating on that. I made this 'improvement' this Sunday and fully agree, that it is actually not very helpful. I apologize for worrying you, but I can assure you it won't go live like this. (I guess, this is one of the downsides of having a completely public changelog, it also shows the not so great in-between versions.) :p

      Could you share what some of the issues you have with the weapon and what it is you're trying to resolve?

      Players have said in this thread and others that the primary issues with the staff are the Vile Curse range seems exceptionally short for the overall strength of the weapon. Perhaps just an increased range or introducing a secondary debuff the curse could apply would help.

      There's also the question of desecrate that was worse than the original iteration of Frost Nova for Frost Staffs and is now clearly no where near comparable to that skill. Let alone any other W skill for Warlock staffs.

      Phew, thank you for the open communication. The way I understand it, you're looking to improve Curse, which is a good thing.

      ... and you shouldn't be working on sundays, especially with the weather we're having in germany. ;)
