    • GvG Training Battles: A Quick How-To Guide

With the upcoming Lancelot Midseason Patch, players will now have the option to hold GvG training battles.

      What are GvG training battles?
Players can now create their own custom GvG practice matches via chat commands, either by typing the names of all players or using pre-selected parties. This will allow newer guilds to build team skills, and give more seasoned guilds the opportunity to test out new strategies and builds. Currently, four different match types are available, each with preset rules: Arena, Farmland, Home Territory, and Resource Territory.

To receive an invitation to a custom match, players must first allow them (in Settings → Social).

The limitations on queuing and entering the GvG Training match will be the same as for Arena. E.g. you will not be able to queue from Red/Black open world areas.

      How does the system work?
There are two ways to start a custom match via chat command:

      Method 1
Open chat window and type the following:
      /cm <playername 1> <playername 2> ... <playername 10> <matchtype>

      Notes:
      • Players 1 to 5 will be in Team 1, players 6 to 10 will be in Team 2.
      • The player typing MUST include their own player name among the ten names.
      Method 2
Open chat window and type the following:
      /cm <playername from enemy group> <matchtype>

      Don't include the brackets.

      Notes:
      • This method offers more convenience if players have already built their own parties.
      • The party of the player typing the command will be Team 1.
      • The party that includes the typed player name will be Team 2.
      • The player name used cannot be in the same party as the person typing the command.
      • This method will only work if both parties are assembled before the chat prompt is typed.
Once all players have received and confirmed the invitation, they will have to channel a spell to enter the match.

    • Just make sure the message does not appear in the middle of the screen and does not require an immediate answer to keep playing...otherwise you will see players using this to distract during OW combat.

Better just make it a system chat message the player has to accept with /Yes to start the channel

      Otherwise - great ! @Evoque
    • Guys, i was suggesting the rework of the War Camps in the Royal Continent so that the new players/guilds have a chance to learn GvGs and prepare/train new teams.

If you guys implement this in the game as a form "train camp" that will be praised to the gods!

      THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Edit: this is important... plz no PoPuP that block the game, like the stupid notifications in which we are obliged to carry them in order to continue playing.

    • Being able to train GvG Combat is AWESOME, of course.

But while I hate to be THAT guy, I got to remark something:

My phone just rang. Know what? It was the nineties on the other end. They were quite upset, to be honest. They asked me to ask you to give them their chat commands back. They made quite the case that they needed those commands for Meridian59, Ultima Online and Everquest. I gotta admit I somewhat have to agree with them ...
    • @Larec You Sir are not a Linux User ;) No, for real if they manage to produce a UI which does not geht in the f*#%ing way, catches my attention too much or keeps me from playing or is blocking my view anywhere, it'll be fine. - But to be honest, since this command should only be used if the players agreed on it, it might as well be commandline at least for the players invited...The player doing the invite should definitely have a UI.
    • Hey @Larec & @Skitted & everyone else!

As was said in the OP - This is merely the first iteration that we're putting out to the public. Of course we have plans to add a proper UI for the inviting player for example.
Also the UI will get in your way if you enable invitations, otherwise it's hard to communicate information. First popup appears in the middle, after you confirmed it it's gonna be on the right side (pretty much like arena queue). If you're out in the blackzones ganking, you might wanna turn invitations off for that time. But the option is there.

    • Maybe just add these improvements as new arena modes? So the game itself would matchmake players. Right now I just can't see how it would work. Players in Caerleon will shout to find opponents? But how to find balanced opponent? I think looking for opponent is what game should do by itself.

Anyway these ideas are great and I looking forward to them very much!

@Draglit I believe we plan to add a second variation of the Watchtower territories in future, I can double check that :)

@Stesnyasha thanks for sharing your feedback! We do plan to iterate and improve the UI in the future, right now we rely on the players own matchmaking to create the scenario they would like to tryout. In the meantime if you're looking to practice with a pick up group it would be best to create a discord channel as Tabooshka kindly suggested.
