Problem with instanced content in cities

  • Problem with instanced content in cities

Im gonna be talking about expeditions here. The idea of an open world pvp sandbox is that people go out in the open world. You guys need to prevent players from staying inside the citties. Expeditions are having this problem, they are keeping players inside the cities, and this is not what you want for open world pvp. This also creates overcrowding in cities.

Here are a few sigestions to make sure more players get out of the cities.

1.Remove expeditions from cities, put them in the open world. In the past, there where some npcs in the open world that gave quests. So, instead of having expeditions inside cities, put them where these quest giving npcs where. This way people will have to walk out of the cities to make expeditions.

    2. In order to try an expedition, players would need "tokens". These tokens would be untradable and will be a drop for non-resource mobs(mobs that dont give skin) either in dungeons or from mob camps. This will cause players to farm these tokens in open world to be able to make an expedition. In this case, expedition rewards would need to be buffed for the added risk of finding the tokens. Tokens will be found in tiered maps, meaning that T4 tokens will be found in T4 maps, T5 tokens will be found in T5 maps and T6 tokens in T6 maps. This will also cause more players to go into redzone. Black zones maps will have a higher drop rate of tokens.

    3. Reduce expedition fame the more a player makes the expedition. For example, the first time for clearing the expedition the player gets the full fame. The second time they try an expedition in the same day, they will recieve only 80% of the fame. A third time in the same day they will get 60%...and so on until they can only recieve 50% of the fame, and from there on, every time they keep doing it the same day they will only recieve 50% of the fame. These reductions reset per day. This way, if players want to farm fame, the best way would be to go out in the world. They could farm fame in the cities doing expeditions but it would not be an efficient way.

I would love for expeditions to be removed, but I know that will never happen so these sugestions could help.
  • Tokens for expeditions that can only be obtained by playing in the open world is a really good idea.

Adding quest/expedition hubs outside town in the open world is also a good idea, but would require SBI to do something other than copy/paste existing assets. So... I won't be holding my breath on that one.
  • 1 Sounds fine(but not all of it*)
2 Sounds pretty good, but only if tradeable*
3 Never. They could simply increase fame gained in OW PvP. Dungeon fame *2, Monster fame *1.5

    1*+2*:
Problem with this is, players who stay inside citys or zones 1-5 do not like PvP, or dont want to play this trash that is called PvP = zergrush, 4.1 equip fight. Thats also why so many people are looking forward to instanced arenas.
Because you finally are able to compete in a FAIR enviroment(even numbers, no 10+ Zerg vs 2) without risk of loosing your expensive gear, enabling everyone to take out the dusty, never used but once bought/crafted 8.1+ Gear.
If you make this tokens untradeable, and force people to go into OW PvP, there will be a big bunch of em quitting. And obviously game devs at least know that you need a playerbase beside the 10% Hardcore PvPers

The suggestions are great! Ppl have put forth that they should be in the open world and the devs do not even comment on that. Ever. The token thing is a great idea too.

    @Jochum
We already have safe pvp in yellow zones especially around the big mob bosses with red circled territories, hgs, and chests. You do not have to risk gear in these areas. Not sure what the point of arenas without 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 20v20, last man standing, etc are. They would also be better placed out of towns. It would be nice to see arenas in different zones with loot rules based on zone rules so there is a mix of both loot and non loot.

The only problem with expeditions is that there is not nearly enough dungeons in open world. You guys want to force people into the 'open world' to do exactly what?
True. There is no pve in open world. Dungeons are always overrun by guilds with 10man parties, so most players wont be able to do anything in those.
That is another of the many problems this game has. I still think this game should be in beta.
