Ultrawide Resolution Support? 3440x1440

  • In a competitive game like this such screen size rendering and perspective this is like multiaccount cheating. If this would pass then the next step is SLS config 3x to 6x 1920x1080?
Currently most of the monitor and mobile marketshare is either 4:3 or 16:9, if this kind of advantage would pass, then I do not see why people cannot legally run 2 instances at the same time, so advantage in a different form.

I'm happy to see the base world rendering in any format and shape as long as the resources, mobs, players and other key elements are centered and rendered at 16:9 ratio

I agree with this. A lot of people with ultra-wide monitors dont realize the advantage they would be getting if they had this resolution allowed, so the only option would be a stretched version of the game. So i really dont see them ever doing an ultra-wide version.

This was the argument that was used against supporting 16:9 (the current standard) when 4:3 was the norm in Battlefield 1942. Historically speaking, we know that DICE was in the wrong for this and I'd say the same for anyone such as Blizzard that uses this argument for their games such as Overwatch.

Why should my experience be subpar because I'm using advanced technology? Imagine if arena shooters like Quake Champions implemented a 60FPS/low FOV cap to accommodate low spec hardware. Want a controlled experience? Play or develop for a console.

In this game specifically large view is key to decide what to do before others in pvp, if you can see their moves before they see you but I don't need to even say that, am i right? We have got nice double standards here, worries about multiaccounting here and there, but when a few ultra wide screen pop up, this is not an issue but actually positive. I would like to see the uproar if a whole extremely competitive guild with 3 full hd or ultra wide in SLS for each member would come up from the shadow, and see that there is no game for everyone else (they could see you many seconds before you even reach then, calculate the strategy, analyse your armor/weapon sets, communicate on discord and so on while you are still walking towards then, go try to take their territory!). At this point, I can also request to play multiple characters at the same time because I have more "advanced technology" or multiple machines and I can specialise the whole destiny board myself on one tree for each account?
Ultra wide is at the moment a niche market, and this not even a pc only game, it's shared across desktop and mobile with a shared world and competitive, which in the overall grand scheme is even a smaller niche market.
You do not see moba-like tournaments providing random sized screens right? Everyone got to play on the same specs, and this applies here as well if they want to give an average competitive feel.

If you get the base static world rendered might be reasonable to avoid stretching or black side screen, while a watermark border will show you the active rendered area (both client/server side) which is a centered 16:9, more than that, it's borderline cheating/advantage

Let players zoom out further then. I think you're really overstating the competitive advantage. We're talking a second or two of movement being visible for me that isn't visible for you. Also you're using a false equivalence, limiting graphical settings and utilizing high-end hardware properly due to a "competitive advantage" is very different from multi boxing which comes along with a wide array of problems such as botting, account selling and gold farming.
