Hello all!
While under normal circumstances we're unable to assist with deaths that are in any way related to PvP, due to the severity of this particular issue and the amount of players affected we felt an extraordinary response was necessary.
We've identified the affected characters and which items they’ve lost due to the issue, and each of these characters has now received the converted value of their lost items in Gold.
If you were affected by this issue, please check your in-game mail. You should have received a mail stating how much gold has been added to your account as compensation.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue and the delay in posting a reply from our side.

Earlier today we disabled access to the Roads of Avalon in order to keep the issue from spreading further.
We are currently working on a fix for the bug itself.
Today at 18:30 UTC we will deploy a Soft Patch that should decrease the severity of the issue.
With this patch, we plan to re-open the Roads of Avalon, but in turn, the Journey Back Ability will be temporarily disabled (Only within the Roads of Avalon). Unfortunately, there is no other way to make it work again in a short timeframe.
Of course, this will mean extraordinary downtime for both servers in order to deploy the patch.
This patch is a Softpatch, meaning that you are not forced to download it to be able to play, however, if you don't, you will experience this bug again.
We hope to have a more thorough and final fix ready within the next couple of days.

What we have gathered so far is that entering the Road of Avalon mounted may cause you to disconnect upon entering if you have your home set in any hideout, followed by you not being able to log back into the game.
You can avoid this by dismounting before you enter the roads, once entered, you are free to mount again.
To fix this, we will need to apply a hotfix, which will be done once we are ready to do so.
