    • Into the Fray - Crystal Arena

      Hello Albion Community,

Let me introduce you to one of our cool new features in detail: The Crystal Arena

The Crystal Arena is intended as a way to introduce as many players as possible to the exciting gameplay of competitive 5v5 Crystal League. It is a full ranked Arena game mode directly available from the in-game menu, like with the current arena. You can queue up solo or with a party and you will automatically end in a 5v5 scenario with Skill Based Matchmaking. You will also Rank Up and Rank Down depending on your performance in the matches. And the match rewards also scale up depending on your Rank.

      Crystal Arena Match
      • Uses Crystal League match rules and map, but is non-lethal
      • Players can sign up with a party of 1, 2, 3, or 5 and will be merged into teams of five when the match starts
      • Skill Based matchmaking
      • Players who don’t play their role may be temporarily banned from the Arena
      • Soft IP Cap: 900
      • Scaling Factor above Softcap: 20%
      • All 5v5 Crystal League Changes Apply
        • Double Healer Penalty if one team uses two Healing Staffs
        • Adjusted Crystal Realm map

      Rank Points and Ranks
      • All players start at "Iron 1" rank with zero Rank Points (RP)
      • Players gain RP with every won match and lose RP with every lost match
        • The RP change depends on the weighted average skill level of your team against the enemy team.
        • In short: beating a stronger team gives much more RP, than beating a weaker team. And the reverse is true for losing, losing against a weaker team will cost more RP.
        • The RP Change pace also depends on your current Rank. In Iron I Wins grant more RP than loses reduce RP. The higher the rank the harsher the loss penalty. Additionally RP wins are higher if the player is considered more skillful than the average above the average
      • Reaching a certain Rank Points threshold will promote / demote the player to a new Rank (i.e. Iron I → Iron II, etc)
      • Player Rank Points and Ranks are visible in all player stats
      • Rankings and RP reset at beginning of each season
      • Arena Seasons begin with each Guild Season, and continue through the offseason
      • The Rankings screen displays a Crystal Arena RP leaderboard with all players per season.

      Match Rewards
      • A daily limited reward for the first 3 wins a day:
        • New “Sealed Royal Sigil" – can be opened to receive a Royal Sigil of a random tier (this is independent of the rank)
      • Unlimited Rewards for every Win:
        • Silver, Fame and occasional vanity items (scales with Rank)
        • Healers get an additional
      • Unlimited smaller consolation prizes every Loss
      • A Draw will also pay out the lose reward
      • All unlimited Rewards are increased by 50% with Premium
      Rewards per Rank:
      RankWin - Fame (avrg)Win - Silver (avrg)Win - Challenge PointsWin - Vanity Item Chance
      Iron I50000700012001.8%

      • Players also earn rewards for ranking up
      • Rewards for reaching each rank can only be earned once per season

      Arena Vanity Items
      • Added new Arena Gladiator Wardrobe pieces (Helmet, Chest, Shoes and Cape)
      • Crystal Arena & Arena Wins don't give directly Arena Sigils anymore
      • Instead there is now a chance to get directly a random vanity item on a Win and Rank Ups
      • All Arena Vanity Items are now non-tradeable (except for the furniture items)
      • Arena Vanity Items can be salvaged into new untradeable Arena Sigils (these can also be won directly on Rank Ups)
      • New "Arena Sigils " can be used to purchase new Arena Gladiator Wardrobe pieces and all the already existing Arena Vanity Items
        • The new Arena Sigils, as well as any vanity bought with them, are untradeable
      • Old Arena Sigils are designated "legacy", and can be used to purchase old skins for a limited time
        • Legacy Sigils already in the game, as well as vanity bought with them, remain tradeable (but the Arena Gladiator Wardrobe can only be purchased with the new Arena Sigils)

      Changes to the original Arena
      • The Rewards are now also split into: 3 Daily Rewards, Unlimited Win Rewards and Loss Consolidation Prizes
      • Queue now allows teams of 1-5 to sign up and automatically creates 5-person teams
      • Soft IP Cap: 700
      • Scaling Factor above Softcap: 20% → 5%

I hope we can see many more players enjoy the exciting Crystal League gameplay and we see new teams form. But since going from Crystal Arena directly into the full loot Crystal League would still be a very rough jump, we also added an entire new Non-Lethal Crystal League as a stepping stone in the middle. See in the Season 16 announcement: Changes for Guild Season 16

I wish you all a lot of fun with this update and the Crystal Arena .

      Cheers,
      Retro

    • very cool and thanks for more details. only real question i have is can groups of 1, 2 or 3 players queing be placed against full 5 man premades? ideally 5 mans would only play other 5 man teams like with current arena, but at a minimum there should be some kind of scaling factor in the win / loss ranking points so that if you random que and lose to a 5 man premade you lose less rank points than if you lost to another random team, and the 5 man should get less points for beating a random team, etc.

Full pre-made teams can only be matched against other full pre-made teams for the first 10 minutes in the waiting queue. Only if no opponent can be found after 10 minutes will non-full premade opponents be considered. We might adjust this value depending on how the average waiting queue will be after the Crystal Arena goes live.

    • OMG I AM SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been an "Arena Main" for as long as I can remember in Albion, it's my favorite content to do, but I ended up getting tired of it because of lack of rewards (3 per day) and lack of challenge, as Healer I have around 90% winrate, so I had quit Albion for quite some time now, probably haven't logged in for months...

THIS, THIS is bringing me back to the game!!! WELL DONE DEVS YOU DID SOMETHING PERFECT (I hope) haha, but the decision to do something where people can qeue for "Ranked" content instantly and enjoy good a good PVP Challenge with unlimited rewards is EXACTLY what Albion has been missing for years!!!

I seriously cannot begin to explain how happy I am to have read about this and cannot wait to try it out in person!

I mean I left <Elevate> to make my own Guild named <Arena All-Stars> for Top Arena players a while back hahah, way before there was any news of this.. finally my Guild will serve a Purpose! :3

    • Is there any chance for something like a shift click to quick chat cooldowns like in mobas? Like: Sunder Shot -> 4 sec CD or Sunder shot -> Ready!
Quick chat options in general would be amazing to have.

This would really improve the fluidity of PvP without the use of mics which will be especially noticeable in Crystal Arena.

Elite Wild Boar is considered a Battle Mount, which are not permitted in crystals or arena.
But a transport mammoth is? Explain how that makes any sense...

The key distinction is just having abilities or not. The mammoth does absolutely nothing and is just slow and takes long to mount so if anything it's a disadvantage. Battlemounts with abilities could actually be used in combat.

You answered your own question but still don't seem to understand. Yes, a TRANSPORT mammoth is infact not a BATTLE mount.

Exactly my point!!!! A transport mammoth doesn't belong in arenas just like battle mounts. Bringing one in only helps hinder your team even more then you probably are already doing (if you're too stupid or just an asshole troll to bring one of those mounts in the first place). You can't bring in bears, boars etc, you shouldn't be allowed transport mammoths. I completely understood my question and I find it interesting you don't seem to think there's a problem with having those mammoths in an arena? It obviously shows you don't do or care for arenas which is fine. However many people do like the game mode, and want to see this stuff end. The only mounts that should be allowed (in arenas) are horses, swift claws and stag/moose.

FYI The Elite Boar is a faction mount not a battle mount. You can get dismounted quite easily on it so calling it a battle mount is laughable at best...Devs can always code in a way to disable the abilities on it but I guess that's something they overlooked like the Frost Ram / Transport Mammoth.

you're right about that. Honestly there are plenty of more reasons crystal arena suck, I've never even seen a mammoth in there and I've played 200 games. though it is weird, it doesn't affect arena much.

I like arena but it doesn't have much hope. Sbi doesn't seem to have any experience with it and the into the fray update was an enormous failure crystal wise. No matchmaking system, no barrier to entry(everyone can join ranked mode, even with no idea how to pvp, 5v5 or any possibility to learn before doing ranked), and the RP system is vague and buggy.

The mount choices are weird but crystal arena is beyond messed up regardless of mounts.
    • Ya arena is fucked but it's fun. That's the only time I've seen a mammoth so maybe they stealth fixed it who knows. The amount of stupid in arenas though is unbelievable but that's something SBI can't do anything about. It's not their fault the player base are full blown retards with attention spans worse then goldfish. Here's a few examples of stupid this ranked season.

Example A: Your team is 3 capped yet all 4 of your teammates are fighting in the middle like it's death match.

Example B: Start of the match enemy team member comes to home spawn to stop the cap and 4 out of 5 of your team members go fight the 1 guy on home while mid gets capped.

Example C: Needing heals in combat only to realize your "healer" is using bear paws.

Example D: The lone wolf on your team who does nothing all match but just caps points then bitches about how much you and the rest of your team suck in arenas and should kill yourself.

Example E: You are 3 capped and getting spawn camped yet nobody tries to get on their mount to go to mid or home to recap and take pressure off the spawn point. Instead they just sit there in death match mode.

Stupid fucking idiots; they should be thankful you never have to think about breathing or they would all drop dead in minutes...

For next season they should have 10 pre matches you do which will help determine your ranking. Right now it's almost impossible to progress without a full pre made team. When you do have pre made team then you wait forever... I personally think 5 mans belong only in leagues but that's just me.

    • 90% of arena players do not know that each death is -6 points

90% of arena players don't understand that to win you need 2 points, not 3

90% of the players do not understand that fighting close to enemy tent is suicide

90% of the players try to get the third point at all costs and lose the previous two.

and matchmaking is a bitch :D

limit minimum 50 regular arena matches or fame limit, someone will make some trash YT video "free arena fame" and all noobs with 0 fame will immediately start queue with trash builds.
AND the experts "there is IP CAP after all!" 8.3 mp full spec vs 0 spec 6.1 lmao

limit 50m total fame or 25m pvp fame. it's a ranking after all.

Cancer content, but it has its charms.
Do it for instance content only!

Each tick of a DoT now puts the original caster into combat again (currently they only get into combat on the first application of the DoT)
