My genuine thoughts about the recent and upcoming changes to ganking

Reading this thread is nostalgic and warms the cockles of my heart :)

Having played MMO's since Ultima Online pre Trammel, this thread reads like a "Trammel will kill the game" which it ultimately did for UO. Sorry, if you don't get the reference, its an oldie.

The problem you have and all MMO's have, is to continue to develop them and to continue to provide the service, you have to have a viable business model.

Unfortunately, hard core PvPer's and those that like the original release of Albion Online and its harsh penalties, do not make up large enough of an audience to support the business model. In fact, generally they are your worst customers because they typically dont spend a lot of money on the game and they tend to generate more of the support calls than PvE players. If you don't like that statement, unfortunately, its a fact.

So what do you have left, a balancing act of providing a game that pleases both crowds. Which to date, no one company has completely solved. I think SBI are doing a good job, however the pendulum is swinging a little to far towards Trammel (Rewards are becoming greater than the Risk), which, depending on how far that pendulum keeps swinging, will determine how quickly AO starts to decline. Notice this year we haven't had an update from SBI stating the growth numbers, possibly that's because they have plateaued?
Not only that when was the last time SBI actually addressed an issue or the immense amount of players in the forums legit giving some of the best ideas that SBI just ignore, it’s like the forums is just there to announce stuff and that’s it, and the “quality reassurance” don’t really do much, they just legit blame your device for problems and not point out how the game might be the one with problems. Because for the past few months since the start of 2022, mobile has had a huge decline and I’m pretty sure it’s because the amount of extra content they keep releasing that isn’t really good just takes up so much mobile data and documents and also hurts the outdated framework of the game for mobile, and those 2 things make it hard to play the game for long terms of time unless if you literally update your phone by buying a new phone to play the game, which only a few people do and a lot of other people don’t.

Just saying that mobile needs a good rework, SBI really needs to listen to this 5% of player base (forums) since we are the ones that stepped up to even share our opinions and ideas about the game, so we should naturally come first for massive leeway for new mechanics that are introduced to the game, and if SBI wants to argue that the forums is just 5% of the player base of Albion Online then how about they get the rest onto the forums for their opinion.

Tp feature will be exploited, people will cry than the feature will be nerfed. Will it fix any real issues? Hell no! Come on guys!! All of you that have been around for more than a year should know how it goes in Albion.
yeah Albion Online is meant to be different than all other MMORPG’s and now SBI is just turning over and saying they want it that way since it will “get more players into Black Zone” when the BZ is meant to be a Endgame content where intermediate and expert players can fight and get massive amounts of silver with immense difficulty. It’s meant to be a hard game for a reason and should not be made any easier or it will just lose the factor of being a true MMORPG that a lot of us older players of a year and more know will just completely take the game that we once knew and played for the exact reason that SBI is getting rid of to make the game easier.
      this is a joke, or?
bz was a place where the experts fight over space.
since queens its a place where the biggest noobs mass numbers and numbers just win.
most bz guilds have an absurd ratio of new/bad players cause they take every person who is willed to mass for them.

Forum is a meme and it doesn't matter what you write about except maybe the BUG's section which is the only place on the forum where devs look. The rest of the forum is irrelevant and is ignored.
best example is mounts in faction, 1.5 years of reporting the problem and exploit in game, no response until finally by some miracle one of the devs noticed the problem and confirmed that it will be fixed... it took them 1,5 years... only because the people in feedback, RT/NDA etc... most of them don't know what's going on in the game.

the game will continue to move towards mobile/casual friendly i.e. log in for 10-20min log out IMO.. :cursing:

Yeah I feel like Albion Online was adopted by a dev team that knows and doesn’t know (somehow) that this game was about the community and they don’t think to check and put time and effort into looking into places the people share their opinions and ideas about the game, and those people should be at least acknowledged by the dev team well knowing that there might be some good ideas and good feedback on very bad features that will just ruin the way of the game and how it has been famous for the past couple of years. Features like the teleport feature goes against what was a big feature that made Albion a big hit which was the risks of traveling for a long time to either die or reap the rewards of you hard work. Plus personally I did like escaping gankers when it almost seems like there is no escape.

Also the game was mobile friendly for the past few months since it’s release and after a while the framework has gone out of date compared to the massive amounts of waste content and features the devs keep implementing, such as dungeons upgrading over time or all the other features that made Albion Online pretty hard yet fun.

The bugs section seems like the only place devs just throw a survey at you and having you waste like 10 minutes writing down your frustrations about the game (good time therapy) and then they get your mobile device’s trace route to send to their server provider.
