Dev Talk: Into the Fray Introduction

    • Black Zone will be a boring place.
With every patch BZ will be more and more casual. More SaveSpots, Invisible Pots and now Teleports to SaveZones?

This will be the end of an huge part of the game and not more interesting to a lot of players.
If Albion turns into an instance pvp game, you have lost everything the game stands for.

This isn't open world PvP any more if the patch hits like you announce it today.

this "recall button" will be a BZ killer.
so with this, i can farm all my soul, put it in a HO then OX it all and wait 10 sec to secure my goods in a city?

if i feel cornered at a moment in ZvZ, just found a spot and 10 sec later, safe?

Dove in a dungeon? just tp out then 10 sec and safe again?

the way back full of goods is one of the more exciting part of gathering/farming cause it let a chance to lose all and how many enjoyed to pass throught gankers to finally access the market?

as it proposed, it's a big mistake (and i understand they will polish the game for casual but no No NO!)
      Hey there,

this is not how the teleport would work. The way we intend to implement this is drastically different from other games and comes with a large set of rules and restrictions.

Our goal is to stop zone camping and not to somehow nerf ganking in general. In fact, we hope to make the Outlands significantly more active and create a lot more PvP encounters then right now - however, these should be more organic and fair than what we currently have with static zone camps.
    • Journey back ability

      - intention: decrease travel time

      what's going to happen:
      - albion solo players: after each good kill/loot drop -> port back and secure loot -> run back into black zone -> increased travel time -> actually increased risk of getting ganked
      - go to rat zvz, loot 10m, go somewhere without people, port back and secure loot without additional risk -> easier ratting
      - go play in zvz zerg, loot, deblob and let players port home without travel risk and secure loot -> less opportunities for fights and trashed loot

I'm looking forward to see more unintended consequences of this change. I wonder why this feature was implemented that goes against Albion's core principles.

Dont speak in riddles please. If you drop a bombshell like a mounted TP thats not some foot note. Thats THE ONLY NOTE.
That will be the biggest change in the whole Patch and you Show some 15 second, 1min CD cast with no other intel on it. From a random map and say it will help with traveling back quickly.

This tp has the potential to crash the whole economy if implemented badly and not communicated well.

      Hi Korn,

The problem is, no matter how many large set of rules and restrictions you come up with, people are always going to find some ways to abuse this. I think the solo players will benefit much less than you hope and in the end, the guilds that are deep in the blackzone will use this system more than the players it's invented for.

I hope this will be monitored and it can still be taken out once it's implemented and doesn't seem to do what you hope it will do.

ROBIN PLEASE, if you decide to go ahead with the channel back to town and town portal then the channel has to be AT LEAST 1 minute (it takes 1 minute to log out on black zone so thats fair)

      That wont solve anything.
Yes Im seeing this mainly as a ganker but the problems will be way more wide spread.
You can still just tp home with all your loot and will crash the economy going back to my mammoth example from before.

This needs to be limited like hell.
      Im talking:
If its any zone or includes any kind of loot or clothes on your body then at the very least a 48h cooldown and a 2-5 min cast time possibly even with a position ping.
Yes! That is how strong such an ability will be...
A TP System from any map in the game will definately break Albion if its not absolutely thought through
    • I’m seeing a lot of people hate on the portal back feature.

How about you have a huge cooldown like maybe say a few hours until you can travel from the deep lethal back to the safe zone in a instant. And or maybe not have it as casual as you may think, maybe something like you will instantly travel to the closest safe zone. So if you are to close to a rest you go there when you don’t want to, or you traveled close enough to another city portal that you don’t want to go to. With this indirectional travel and the only thing to know where you can go is by the distance from where you want to go and where you don’t want to go.

Take this into mind and think how this function could essentially screw you over in some cases.

The economy of the game is very complex fron the point of view of a developer so im 100% sure that they at the very least know that this change won´t have a big negative impact on the market.

Here Korn says that this feature will come with a LARGE set of rules and restrictions and thet they want the ecounters to be more organic (whatever that means) so I imagine that those rules will be tied to how deep you are in the bz, how long have you stayed out of combat, the weight and amount of loot in your inventory, the quality of your gear etc.

We have to wait for them to reveal all of the rules that the tp has.
From the small clip in the devtalk we can see that the guy is in t4 gear, with an empty inventory in a t3 horse in a zone thats near the portal (I think correct me if im wrong) so its reasonable that the cast time of the ability is kind of fast.
Maybe Im wrong and the change will be dogshit and kill the whole game but with the info we have atm I think that you guys are blowing it out of proportion.
    • My opinion is that if you have to insert teleporting from the Blackzone with a lot of rules and limitations to make it fit into the game, then you might as well save yourself the work. You might as well make the black zone a red or yellow zone. People who have problems with gankers in the black zone have to sit down and learn what to do about it. There are enough experienced players, online guides, videos and streamers that can help you. Maybe you should try to persuade new players to read and follow the hints you get at the beginning of the game.
    • Have you had the pleasure of playing Black Dessert? There such TPs were cheats and ruined the whole full PvP principle.
The idea in itself is rather bad.

The reason for it is to stop people from gate camping. And I will say this again and again as a players of the first hour of this game. If you get caught at the gate there is no way around as to bloody get better at the game!

But also. We had a better way of getting around in the Blackzone before... well the old Blackzone when the Gates were better splitt up and not sotting in one corner of the map.
So how about instead of adding a stupid TP Feature you add Caerleon Gates that lead into the middle of the map?

I fully understand Albion wants to grow but it is a simple fact in any MMORPG that not all content is for every Player!
Dont want to Die? Stay on the Royal!
Want to die and kill? Well good! Get yourself out there!
    • SBI really believes that people who are addicted to HO after the introduction of teleport will suddenly start roaming 5-10 zones away from HO ? haha

how can you be so naive, of course those people will still be dependent on HO and they will stay in 1 zone... the whole system that you add for years to the game does not really teach new players the game mechanics and combat just gives them the opportunity to exist because of 1 button, in the end it will always end the same way..

focus more on the roads and the potential they bring to the game...

warcamps which are the perfect synergy with roads while keeping risk = reward

work on combat balance which is crying for years for a change from stunlock online to albion online

polish the HO and HQ orb/vortex system

Adding more and more mechanics to the game does not make it better. A perfect example of this mistake is POE and GGG who after many years woke up from content spam and started to listen to what the community has to say, after all, they play your product and know what the problems are.
