Usage Fee and Crafting Changes - Lands Awakened Update

    • Usage Fee and Crafting Changes - Lands Awakened Update

      Hello all,

With the Lands Awakened update on November 24, Usage Fees for player-owned buildings will become more transparent and straightforward, and overall crafting will have a clearer and better-balanced progression based on its raw ingredients.

NOTE: The term "crafting" in this description refers to both crafting and refining, as the values, costs, Focus returns, etc. for both processes are calculated based on the same raw resources.

      Usage Fee Changes
      • Usage Fees are now derived directly from the Nutrition an Item consumes when it is crafted/studied at a building
      • Usage Fees are now set as an amount of Silver per 100 Nutrition consumed
        • Formerly % value
        • All Usage Fees were adjusted to give the same amount of Silver as before the update, so fees will have the same effective rate when the update goes live

      • As a reminder, the Nutrition an Items consumes when it is crafted is derived from its Item Value.
        • Nutrition Cost = Item Value * 0.1125
      Here's the updated crafting UI:

      • A new sub menu in the cost confirmation breaks down the calculations that lead to the final price paid
      • Fixed an issue where studying multiple stacks of the same item was more expensive than studying the same amount of items in one stack
      • Fixed a bug where the usage fee of items that are created in batches by default (like Meat or non Fish Food) would only be equal to 1 item instead of the whole batch
      • A Usage Fee of 1% in the old System equals 44.44 in the new system
      Item Value Changes
      • Changed the Item Values (referred to as "IV" below) of Raw Resources:
        • T2: 2 → 4
        • T4.2: 24 → 28
        • T4.3: 48 → 60
      • This was done to clean up the IV Progression of Refined Resources, so that they now double with each Tier or Enchantment:

        • This will decrease the IV of Mob Capes
        • This will increase the IV of Faction Warfare Capes
      • This will decrease the following costs for Mob Capes:

      • Fixed some inconsistencies in the IV of Artifacts (the equipment items will be indirectly affected)
        • these changes are all below 1%
      • Fixed a bug that gave all Avalonian Offhands Artifacts only roughly halve their IV
        • Astral Aegis
        • Celestial Censer
        • Sacred Scepter
      • The changes to the Artifacts IV and the Resource IV changes will increase the following costs for Artifact Weapons / Armors:

      Focus
      • Focus Costs for Refined Resources have changed because of the general item value (IV) changes applied to Resources:

      • Fixed a bug where the T8 Faction Warfare Elite mounts used the Focus Cost of T5 Faction Warfare Mounts
        • Elite Terrorbird (1782 → 10053)
        • Elite Winter Bear (1782 → 10053)
        • Elite Wild Boar (1782 → 10053)
        • Elite Bighorn Ram (1782 → 10053)
        • Elite Swamp Salamander (1782 → 10053)
        • Elite Greywolf (3200 → 10053)
      • Fixed a bug where the “Saddled Grey Wolf” Mount used the same Focus Cost as the “Direwolf” Mount
        • (3200 → 1876)
      Food / Potions
      • Changed the Focus Cost of Food and Potions to be derived from the Nutrition of the ingredients
        • Used to be derived from the Nutrition of the resultant Food/Potion Item
        • This had two problems
          • The Item has the nutrition it consumes from the workstation when crafting added in its final nutrition value
            • But this is nutrition that can’t be returned by focus, so it shouldn't be considered in the calculation
          • Fish Sauce doesn’t contribute to the nutritional value of the product
            • However, Fish Sauce can be returned by Focus, so its nutritional value should be considered in the calculation

      • Fixed an issue that added the nutrition consumed from the workstation twice to the final nutrition value (this only happened for items of T3 or higher)
        • This also affects the following Ingredient Items (all Tiers are the same), because they need to be processed at a workstation:
          • Meat 57 → 52
          • Flour 57 → 52
          • Butter 57 → 52
          • Alcohol 57 → 52
          • Bread 66 → 57

      • Reduced the Item Value of Fish Sauce to 0

      • Fixed a bug where the Item Value of Avalonian Energy was ignored when calculating the amount of Nutrition that is readded to Avalonian Food but not when calculating the actual Nutrition consumed from the Workstation

      • All Food changes lead to varied changes in for Food Items and Potions in following stats:
        • Nutrition
        • Focus Cost
        • Weight
        • Craft Time
We hope these changes will benefit building owners and "renters" alike, and make crafting an easier-to-understand and more rewarding process.

Now when making fish sauce will there be a return rate for chopped fish and seaweed with using focus ? Or it’s still the same the return rate of fish sauce is while cooking the food itself ?
The Return Rates themselves didn't change.
We only adjusted the Focus Cost formula to take into account that Fish Sauce is also returned when crafting enchanted food with focus.

Should any of these changes affect the journal fame that we produce per item? I'm finding I'm filling up journals significantly a lot less per batch of resources that I craft.
If you have the impression that crafting will fill significantly less journals after the patch, I recommend looking at the patch notes.

This appears to not be the case for butcher stations. Yesterday, when I butchered a cow at the cheapest station in Caerleon, it cost me around 360 silver iirc. Now the same cow costs 7,200 to butcher.

At first I thought maybe the station owner was playing games and price gouging. But he isn't. ALL the butchering stations in Caerleon are at insanely high prices. ALL of them. I also checked the 5 other cities. Same problem.

I’m pretty sure that after the stations were converted to the new format, the first thing the owners did was ramp up the costs to take advantage of the confusion and the fact that most players don’t know what a fair or reasonable rate is under the new system …

This is due to this bug fix.

Before the update you basically only paid for 1 Meat instead of the 20.

Seems like such a change is possibly going to have huge rippling effects throughout the economy for crafted food and raw meats. Possibly even affecting the viability of having city crafters.

I am already seeing that for crafting raw meats, using my own personal island butcher is now VASTLY more profitable than using any of the ones in Caerleon. And that is after some of the shop owners lowered their usage fees in Caerleon.

Be interesting to see how all this pans out.

      RIP CRAFTING...

how are we meant to make profit? lol
I can only speak to meat products. Right now, the best way to stay profitable is to lower costs by using your own island farm crafting stations.

For example, 2 days ago prior to the update, I was making roughly $5,500 profit from every cow I butchered and selling the raw meat. Yesterday after the update, I would have had roughly a $1,700 LOSS per cow butchered!!! Yikes!

Today a couple of the butcher shop owners in Caerleon lowered their prices. If I would have used those guys, I would have made roughly $4,500 per cow butchered. A profit yes, but still roughly $1,000 LESS profit than what I was making prior to the update. However, the profit per cow butchered using my own island butcher was $5,400!!! Almost what I was making prior to the update!

From what I am seeing, if you use your own butcher, on your own island, you are going to get MUCH higher profits. Not sure if this applies to other types of farm products since I have only been doing raw meats for the past month and I don't have data for other farm products.

I think whoever decided to put this update online should be fired due to lack of brains experience and genuine logic. Half of the content is unplayable due to how much open world gives. Craft is dead. Labourers are dead. Stone is dead. Black market will die soon. Thanks SBI. I have never wanted to rmt my silver and leave but at this point it seems like the only option. Like its that bad that people are using islands to craft to bypass your dumb new tax system. Genius update, uninstalled.
