Mage cowl should deal 50% / 25% less damage, unless target is at melee range

Now, mage cowl is supposed to be like a poison that is applied to your weapon.

Why can casters or healers apply it by autoattack from range ?

Not only it makes no sense logically ( who cares about that though ), but on top of that it´s huge advantage over melee players that needs to be on target to apply it.

Majority of ranged / caster / kite builds are using it because it´s simply too strong. You pop autoattack once and you gain maximum value. That is quite crazy.
So unless the enemy is at melee range, how about reducing dmg by 50% ?

Just the idea that a healer can pop one little autoattack and deal massive damage, while an assassin with daggers or whatever melee deals same damage with poison is a bit of a joke.

Edit: Changed it to apply to all ranged.

    • The fact that you only want this for magic weapons and say bows is fine cause "its just arrows" makes me feel you are complaining you found a frost user with magic cowl and you lost against them

vitrolic magic exist, so you could argue that if used by a magic weapon it instead conjures a vitrolic spell or shit like that

And considering it´s a poison, how the hell does it work with a caster
melee will always bee in a disadvantage over ranged for the simple fact of being melee, even with mobility spells and that few extra HP, is not enough

just look at fire wall, it is a great spell, and its utility its exponentially increased if the enemy is melee

and I already explained, alchemists can (suposedly) make vitrolic magic (basically use acid for spells and shit), so you could argue that to make that ability work on magic weapons
    • Mage cowl should get a +15 or +10 sec CD. Its ussually used on 2 types of builds: Runner builds (Hit and run) and one shot builds.

Hit and run builds are OP cause they play on full CDRS (Healer, bloodletter in 1v1). Oneshotbuilds only need 1 time combo so... CDR means not that much.

In openworld its rarely used; only on 4.1 cursed builds. (Unless u had a big gank party, cause purge and reveal invis are better than mage cowl)

Damage its pretty much ok i would say, the problem its the cdr

Ah yes, another episode of "CRD's are the entire game".

Besides: what is venomancy and what is spell consistency?
Random coment n°1023341 here on top.

The only content that pvp players are playing are cds cause the other ones are dead or low ip.

Check more on forum before saying non-sense

And yeah, if you say "5s are alive" no, they aren't.
People streamsnipe other discords to play counter builds, and there are only 10 teams at much

      And now, about other contents.

Open world -> Mage cowl have 2 uses, gank squads and solo pvp cheap build (4.1)
CDS -> Reset metas and oneshot builds
2V2 -> 0 Builds cause oneshot combos have better options and purge its better in other cases.
      5v5 or more -> N o p e.

And there is a problem in the Cooldown on mage cowl? Try it for yourself.
Check for some mage cowl royal jacket bloodletter or hallowfall build, more than 80% winrates 1 month ago on murderledger, if you play them still very strong

If they have an advantage then ranged classes should be nerfed. If you nerf mage cowl for ranged classes they would just pick fiend cowl and still have an advantage. This is a bad way to balance the game.
