Alright, so this is simple technology and will prevent you from attacking people you want to inspect. For example like in this clip this guy had no way to inspect this player without tagging him first in result he died.
All MMO's have a bind to select the closest target why Albion does not ?

LMAO just trolling sorry for you -
Exactly what i was thinking! Also it should be good for not moving towards somewhere because you misclicked while trying to take target on your opponent (That got killed me many times in corrupted dungeons. I'm ranged and trying to just select my target. Left click on the ground instead which causes me to move towards them and so i end up getting jumped on and die ...)
I know that there's the option of "RTSlike controls" on mouse control scheme which supposedly prevents this. But first of all, that option is bugged. You cannot click behind big mobs like bosses which makes it impossible for you to navigate around them.
Also, clicking to take target is just way too clunky.
My suggestion is that, we add TAB as an option to select the closest enemy player. And if we press TAB again, we cycle trough enemies starting from the closest to the farthest. And keep clicking to take target the same way it is right now as there may be players that are used to it and prefer it the old way. That way everyone should be happy. The post was edited 1 time, last by Tsuitachi ().

Go to Settings > Controls > Tick Double Press to Attack...
This will allow you to select the target first and not attack it immediately.
