Under settings in the chat there is a loot option, I have custom tabs I made so I dont actually remember what the game gives you as a standard.

Combat tab on the chat window, shows who picked up what, who died, how much damage you take and give. I dont think i did anything special to get it, was there by default i think.
Should show something like
player XXX picked up <icon of item>
