Mounted Combat

    • Mounted Combat

A lot of folks I've spoken too, would like to get a Lance going for the armored horses. It could do a small percentage of damage, but also knockdown/knock-back. The higher the tier Lance/Horse, the more damage and knock time.

Also, anytime you have 20 or more transport Ox moving together, they should go into a stampede mode. They could have a knock ability as well, but no damage.

    • old guild i was in used ox and bears in ZvZ as a flank group only works a few times, without skills lol but they were noticably distracted, some dismounted us some tried to avoid being close to us... was strange just walking through them then when 2-3 got dismounted we called a push, and the rest of us dismount behind them.
    • @Borbarad Stampede deals no damage. And it takes 20 players to create one. It can't be used to win teamfights in ZvZ. Only to move from one place to another as a group. Long ranged abilities are still gonna affect the oxes so a command mammoth f.e. can disrupt the hoard with his knockback ability.
To make armored horses more relavant in game they could be given a similar ability as the one proposed above. The longer you charge the more damage you make, you also gain CC immunity for a set amount of time. However, while charging it is difficult to change the direction you are charging in. An ability like that is useful if you are traveling with your group in black or red zone and you want to pass through a camped gate. The giant horse has a similar ability but it is more focused on boosting your defences so that you can't get oneshoted even if you are travelling alone.

@Ragu If gathering somehow becomes a group activity stampede is going to be useful but right now I don't see how it is going to be used.

    • one of the latests dev talks the devs said that we will see more unique skills for each mount, including the basic mounts like horse, armored horse, ox, swiftclaw, etc. So i'm waiting to see if they will bring something interesting to armored horses. Historically, mounted soldiers was ever a better option then normal walking soldiers, i like to see something more "real" in Albion.

Fun idea, but it´s not gonna happen.

Probably too hard to code, and people would abuse it. I can see blob of gankers dismounting people with lances :D

Similarly with oxen - a stampede of zvz oxen haha

@Borbarad Most gankers use Swiftclaws, Huskies or Dire Wolves for ganking, since they are much faster than any horse. Once the Charge ability is used it would have a cooldown. The damage would apply to mounted players to help unhorse them (maybe stun them?), the knock+damage would apply to an unmounted player.

@Apotosariel A lot of guilds make caravan runs to cities and hideouts in the BZ. The thought was they could easily trample a ganker or two, but lose some run speed for X amount of time, depending on how many Ox were hit. For instance, if they were hit with, or ran thru a sticky pot, they'd lose the stampede buff as well.

Only way to improve the game is to keep the ideas flowing. Thanks to both of you for your thoughts and ideas.

This suggestion is a gankers dream.

OXes who can't zone to other map, because they are in combat after the knock other player.

More free kills and free loot for gate gankers.
You dont understand what you asking for, or understand it very good, and trying to trick everyone

What would stop the Ox's from Zoning if the knock is strictly defensive? They didn't attack, so they aren't getting blocked from zoning. Plus, gankers won't want to fight 20+ players. If anything, it's an anti-gank idea.

Same thing that dont let you zone with grizzly bear aura, or pest lizard passive, or crow passive, or avalonian mount passive.

All this spells is defensive and do no damage, and some of them can be activated by gankers, who cares? It will not let you zone, and knock back effect, will not let you zone for sure.

Sounds like you just pointed out a glaring flaw in the game design. SBI should update that with a patch when they implement Mounted Combat.

Thanks for the input man. :)
