      Hello all,

      First of all, we, the Albion Online Team, would like to say thank you to everybody who has supported us so far. The Oberon update has been by far the most successful update we have ever released, and it wouldn’t have been possible without all the great input and feedback that you, the players, have shared with us.



      Along with the huge new Randomized Dungeons feature, Oberon also brought new mobs, chests, and shrines, reduced grind to unlock gear, a greatly improved tutorial, and numerous quality-of-life improvements. And with the group dungeons now in place, our team has started to work on Solo Randomized Dungeons as one of our next major focuses. You can read the Roadmap covering our plans for the next several updates here, and we'll be sending another community survey soon to make sure we're on the right track.



      Free-to-Play is Coming


      In just five days, on April 10, Albion Online will go free-to-play. We expect that this change will bring large numbers of new players into the game, and we are already making preparations to ensure that this new phase goes as smoothly as possible.
      Improvements thus far include upgrades to our server hardware and optimizations of the game code. However, even if everything runs smoothly from a technical viewpoint, we know from the B2P release in 2017 that there can be a point at which certain zones – in particular, some of the game’s starter cities and surrounding areas – may become clogged. This situation greatly improves as new players disperse more evenly across the game world, as well as after the day-one hype (where it is not unusual for players to run sessions of 10 hours or more). However, if the total player numbers become too high, we may need to activate a queue to ensure that the game world can handle the inflow.

      If there is a queue, characters with Premium will get preferential access. This is to make sure that the existing player base – as well as all players who directly support the game’s development – do not get locked out of the game. (Note that free Premium days given out by the game, such as during the tutorial, do not count toward preferential queue access unless your character has previously bought at least 30 days of Premium.)

      For those without Premium who may get stuck waiting, we want to provide some guidance about the times at which queues are more likely. Generally, activity in the game follows the chart below, based on the UTC time zone:

      Please be assured we will be monitoring the game closely during this launch, and while we’ll do all we can to make sure that everything runs smoothly, we apologize in advance for any unforeseen issues that may occur.

    • Since the thread announcing the downtime yesterday was locked/"resolved" I'm typing here:

      • First off, I think it's extremely unsavory that you announce a three hour server take-down with only two hours notice. I understand if it's an emergency sometimes things have to happen but when you plan for three hours of downtime - you could certainly give more of a heads-up.
      • Secondly, why would you take the server down for three hours at 5UTC instead of just waiting until regular maintenance? What is the point of taking the server down for three hours, have it back for two, and then maintenance again?
      • Lastly, I wouldn't have taken the time to create this post if the "server upgrades" from yesterday actually improved the servers, but they honestly feel so, so much worse almost as if it's downgraded to what we had a year or so ago.

      If the servers are anywhere close to the garbage they used to be performance wise - this F2P launch is going to be just like actual launch all over again and people will leave in droves just like they did then too.

      well it doesn't seem that bad... we need more context (a battle report?) to see how many players were actually involved. At least you were able to move normally like 90% of the clip and had 20 FPS (not 1-2 FPS like what I get in a 300 man fight).

      Also you might want to turn down your graphics to "Low" for ZvZ and remove allied spell effects, name tags, etc... only keep enemy spell effects and health bars. I know its not ideal, but those are so called "zvz settings" and I get 2 FPS when running those in a 300 man fight
