"For this reason, we are putting the free to play plans on hold as well. Making the game ready for a free to play model would take up significant development time which we would much rather use to make a better game. Free to play would also create a lot of risks for the game - spamming, botting, world too small, etc - which we do not want to take if it can be avoided." Thank you @Bercilak

Wipes should not be announced, but expected and regularly happen in beta...

F2P players are not even a % that we should be considering because they don't pay. They shouldn't even be called customers because they don't do business. They are the 0%. This isn't a non-profit organization. If AO finds a way to get a higher conversion rate of F2P players to become paying players then perhaps that would work. But what would that require? Likely some very nice carrots... The game becomes more so P2W. It costs money just for each download of the game from servers unless it is to…

The most vocal and most numerous complainers are not here yet. Those F2P players. This is my one and only account. I have never played the game before. No alter egos here, just mine. I will likely pay to play the closed beta in november if my schedule allows. I would have funded for a prior test if I had the time, but I did not. My schedule is what dictates my founding of AO. Yes, I see that is the current business model, but this game is still in development and subject to change. Even after re…

"franks law of business #10 10) Under 20% of your customers comprise 80+% of your business headaches. If you can find a way to politely offend them so they shop at a competitors, you will be free to operate so much better for the remaining 80+% that the business will become 30% more profitable as remaining customers tell others good things about you. (also, the difficult people you've politely offended...and have nothing 'good to say' about you... all their friends already know they are hard to …

@Dobrutro Dunin makes some very good points! @Zetecua You are right it isn't just about the money and ability to afford or not. It is what am I getting out of it? Is that worth it? Healthy? Better things I should be buying instead? It is hard for me to rationalize, but if I play it and enjoy it I realize I will get much more enjoyment out of a subscription game in the long term than a F2P/P2W game. @Saffiana Sounds like this kind of game just isn't for your son by his own declaration... If it is…
